How Magnetic Therapy Can Reduce Your Pain By Up To 40 Per Cent

LIZ Roberts' Pershore garden is positively blooming this year.

The keen gardener has been out and about planting and pruning to her heart's content.
But while this may sound like the norm for any keen horticulturalist, for Liz it is quite an achievement.
For the past several years, the 64-year-old has had to relinquish her love of the garden as she suffers from fibromyalgia - a severe form of arthritis.

It causes her tremendous pain all over her body, and everyday tasks - including gardening - have become very difficult.
But four months ago, all that changed when Liz, from Sheldon Close, discovered a treatment that she claims has reduced the pain she suffers by up to 40 per cent - magnetic therapy.

According to the Magnetic Therapy Council, therapeutic strong static magnets can help with the scores of medical conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, spondylosis, fibromyalgia, back pain, sciatica, diabetes, insomnia, migraine, MS, stroke, high blood pressure, poor circulation and many more.

Science has discovered that a magnetic field over and around the point of pain increases blood flow in the effected area. This increased blood flow carries with it greater quantities of oxygen, vital nutrients and especially endorphins which relieve and soon remove and alleviate the pain.

Magnetic therapy does not aim to replace existing methods of treatment but complement and assist in the reduction of painful symptoms and help speed up the healing process.
After hearing about the treatment on the radio, Liz now uses a magnetic mattress cover and pillow pad, as well as insoles in her shoes, a back belt and a water wand - which magnetises drinks.

"I used to ache all over," Liz said.
"Every fibre of my being hurt and it restricted me from doing the things I love the most, like gardening.
"I was even having difficulty sleeping.
"But I can honestly say that using the magnets has been marvellous.
"Even after just two weeks, after using them 24 hours a day, I could feel the difference."
Liz says that her pain has been reduced by up to 30 or 40 per cent.
She added: "When you feel you have suffered for a long time and you suddenly have freedom from it it is fantastic - and of course, getting back out in the garden and being able to use my secateurs has been great.
"It has completely changed the quality of my life."

Debbie Shimadry, a pain nurse specialist at World of Magnets, said about 60 pert cent of magnetic therapy users are able to significantly reduce the amount of painkilling pills they have to take, while about 35 per cent no longer need any painkillers at all.
"The treatment does not act like painkillers where the pain is blocked for around four to six hours and then returns," she added.
"Magnets act on the cause of the pain reducing the swelling and increasing the body's own pain killers endorphins.
"Magnets take a little bit of time to have an effect - usually around two to four weeks - but some people have benefits within a few day.

"On the other side, some people take around eight to 12 weeks to really notice a significant reduction.
"And now, the NHS has said that for the very first time it will allow magnetic therapy treatment devices to be prescribed by GPs for the treatment of chronic leg ulcers."
Debbie added that even though there are no harmful effects of magnetic therapy, anyone thinking of using it should always seek trained professional advice about the type of magnets, the placement and the strength before using them.
There is a register of trained and qualified magnetic practitioners available from the Magnetic Therapy Council (MTC) - a non profit organisation, who offers advice, information and education on all aspects of magnetic therapy.

    Facts...

    * Magnets were first documented around 2500-3000 years BC. Their origins are first noted in Asia Minor in a vast land called Magnesia. The earth there was enriched with iron oxide which attracted metals to it. The locals named it Magnetite.

    * Cleopatra was probably the first celebrity to use magnets. It is documented that she slept on a Lodestone to keep her skin youthful. The therapeutic knowledge was passed to the Greeks who have been using magnets for healing since 2500 BC. Aristotle and Plato talked of the benefits of Lodestones in their work.

    * Michael Faraday, also known as the founder of Biomagnetics made extensive discoveries in magnetic healing during the 18th century. His work is still used as a framework for modern day magnetic treatments.

    * 20th Century pioneers include Dr Kreft a German doctor who in 1905 studied the healing effects of magnets on rheumatic disease, sciatica and neuralgia.

    * Magnetic therapy is gaining in popularity worldwide with many celebrity devotees including Cherie Blair, the Queen, Prince William, Bill Clinton and Anthony Hopkins.

Which Magnets are the Best for Magnetic Therapy Healing?

Magnetic therapy has gained a lot of interest from the press in the last few years. This article looks at what are the most effective magnets for magnetic therapy healing. First lets discuss the different types of therapeutic magnets.

Not all magnets are created equal. Magnets come in many shapes and forms. Magnets are used for hundreds of applications from large industry purposes like the automotive industry to domestic applications such as audio speakers; you will even find them in your television. With so many different types, shapes, and strengths of magnets it can be easy to mistake an industrial magnet for a healing magnet. I will discuss the difference between the various materials magnets can be made from and their applications.

    Ferrite magnets

Hard ferrite (ceramic) magnets were developed in the 1960's as a low cost alternative to metallic magnets. They are made from strontium carbonate and iron oxide both of which are readily available and low in cost. Even though they exhibit low magnetic fields (compared with other permanent magnet materials),ferrite magnets are widely used for industrial and domestic purposes. Ferrite magnets have good resistance to demagnetization, excellent corrosion resistance and the biggest advantage of such economic cost.

Ferrite magnets are made in many shapes and sizes, cylinders, bars, discs, horse shoes and rings.

The positive benefits of ferrite magnets are

o They retain their magnetism for a very long time.

o They have a high stability and do not demagnetise very easily even in high temperatures.

o They are relatively low cost to produce.

o They can be manufactured to be flexible, by mixing the ferrite with plasticized rubber compounds, which creates a bendy and pliable magnet.

The main drawback of ferrite magnets is that they are quite fragile and tend to break easily, so they should be handled with care.

Ferrite magnets are used for healing purposes. They are commonly found in magnetic therapy wraps, straps, magnetic bedding and shoe insoles (using flexible ferrite magnets). Whilst ferrite magnets will keep their magnetism for a very long time you must always be careful to ensure that their strength is adequate. Each magnet should be at least 800 gauss. You should also be wary of products that could be easily damaged as once the magnets are broken the magnetic device should be discarded.

    Neodymium magnets

Neodymium magnets are a member of the rare earth magnet family and are the most powerful permanent magnets in the world. They are also referred to as NdFeB magnets, or NIB, because they are composed mainly of Neodymium (Nd), Iron (Fe) and Boron (B). They are a relatively new invention, first manufactured in 1984 and have only recently become affordable for everyday use.

Neodymium rare earth magnets have a high resistance to demagnetization, unlike most other types of magnets. They will not lose their magnetization around other magnets or if dropped. They will however, begin to lose strength if they are heated above their maximum operating temperature, which is 176°F (80°C)

If you have never handled neodymium magnets before, you will be amazed at their strength. Neodymium magnets are over 10 x stronger than the strongest ceramic magnets. If you are currently using ceramic magnets in your project, you could probably use a much smaller neodymium magnet and have greater force.

Neodymium magnets also have some limitations due to their corrosion behaviour. In humid applications, a protective coating is highly recommended. Coatings which have been used successfully include E-coat (a liquid dip epoxy coating), dry electrostatic spray epoxy, nickel plating and combinations of these coatings. Changes in composition and processing over the past several years have resulted in significant improvements in corrosion resistance and high temperature performance.

Just like ferrite magnets neodymium magnets come in the same wide array of shapes and sizes, but because of their greatly increased size it is possible to use a measurably smaller neodymium magnet and still have an equal or greater strength than that of a ferrite magnet. This is one of the main reasons why neodymium magnets are much more widely used for healing purposes than ferrite, as a much smaller and lighter weighing magnet can be used.

The positive benefits of neodymium magnets are:

o They are the strongest magnets available approximately 10 times stronger than ferrite magnets.

    o They are very lightweight.

o They do not demagnetise very easily and can with stand temperatures up to 80 C.

o They can be manufactured to a very small size e.g.2mm x 2mm and still have a strength of several thousand gauss.

The main drawback of neodymium magnets is that they have a low resistance to corrosion. To prevent corrosion from water, they must be coated with plating or an epoxy resin.

Neodymium magnets are used for all magnetic therapy healing applications. They are the first choice due to their strength and size. They will also stay magnetised for at least 10 years, so they are a very economical choice for users. Most good quality magnetic therapy jewellery, straps, wraps and bedding will contain neodymium magnets.

5 Ways Magnetic Therapy Will Help Your Migraine

Migraines are much more than having a bad headache, they can be extremely painful, and for some people they can be nearly unbearable. Most people who suffer migraines are prescribed drugs by their doctors to help them cope with the excruciating pain. It's simple to just consume these drugs and then put up with the side effects and the ongoing expense, but there is another option for you to try.

Magnetic therapy products are cost effective and you can use them without having the side effects as a result. There is a large range of products that are specifically designed to give you the required relief you have been looking for. It is our intention to offer you 5 Ways to manage migraine headaches using Magnetic Therapy Products.

Number One - A Magnetic Headband

It is stated by Historians that Cleopatra placed a magnetic stone on her forehead to assist with pain and to maintain her youthful look. This principle is used in the Magnetic Headband. Magnetic Headbands have 2 magnetic pads positioned inside of the band. Each of these pads have five 800 Gauss magnets inside them. These pads can be arranged around the band to position them over the area of the head that is in most pain.

The headband can be worn all the day long. It can be worn in bed, but if you are a restless sleeper it might come off during the night. The best advantage in regard to the magnetic therapy headband is that the magnets can be moved directly over the most painful area giving you the best magnetic therapy results throughout the day or night.

Number Two - A Magnetic Necklace

Wearing a Magnetic Headband around everywhere is not always going to be practical, often you will want some treatment for your migraine while you are at your work place, or at the shops, or even if you are just out visiting a friend. The headband can be a little bit obvious, so you may want to wear something a little smaller and less obvious. In this situation you can wear a magnetic necklace instead. There are many fashionable magnetic therapy necklace designs to pick from.

Number Three - A Magnetic Pillow Magnetic pillows are great for painful areas. All the hard work is done while you are sleeping on it. One huge advantage of the Magnetic Pillow is that the therapy from the pillow will improve your blood flow, which means less inflation and less pain. A second advantage is that the pillow can be used for quite a few other purposes as well.

Many elderly people will use their magnetic pillow as a "mini travel mattress" while travelling in a car, bus, train or even a plane. When they go on trips, they take their pillow along with them to assist with pain in other areas. They can place it behind their back for lower back pain or behind their neck for neck pain. The pillow can be used to sit on, or positioned behind or around any painful area. The magnetic therapy pillow can also simply be used during the day when you are sitting in a kitchen chair, or in the lounge on a couch.

Number Four - Magnetic Therapy Magnets Magnets will assist with the cause of the pain; this is why static magnets should be placed as close to the point of the painful area as possible. Using magnets directly on the point of inflammation can often be the best way to treat painful issues such arthritis, swelling or a migraine. The advantage of using magnets directly without a device such as the magnetic headband is that you can often get more powerful magnets directly in contact with the area of inflammation or pain, and you can choose the magnet strength you want. Having no physical device around the magnet allows the magnet to be positioned directly on the skin area nearest the pain. You won't get any closer that that!

Number Five - Magnetic Earrings Magnetic earrings produce magnetic energy, and that energy possesses polarity. The polarity then targets the painful areas in your neck and head region. This will increase the blood circulation to the area affected most. This gives more blood circulation, nutrients and oxygen to reach the painful region, assisting to reduce the inflammation and the pain associated with it. Magnetic therapy earrings can be very small and non intrusive and some of the attractive designs don't even require you to have pierced ears to wear them. Magnetic earrings can also reduce your stress level at the same time.

Remember the best things about magnetic therapy products is that you won't overdose on magnetic therapy, the products are cost effective (you only need to buy them one time as they are not a consumable) and they won't wear out.

Magnetic Therapy - Research Study and Findings

Magnetic therapy not ruled by evidence

Investigation into the efficient mechanism of magnetic therapy is minimal in the present day because whether or not scientific evidences are present, magnetic therapy has by and large become the most popular form of alternative medicine. Inflammation of joints is found to be considerably mitigated by external application of static (or constant) magnetic fields. Magnetic therapy also promotes good sleep and takes care of several painful conditions including arthritis and fibromyalgia.

    Customer is King

In this age when 'customer' is considered 'king', the feedback and testimonials from users certainly have more validity and therefore magnetic therapy has become more and more accepted for the simple reason that it provides a drug-free and natural cure for many ailments.

The medical faculty has not once flinched in telling the world that the reduction in pain by use of magnetic therapy products is nothing but a placebo effect and that alternative medical practitioners are exploiting gullible citizens and making easy money out of them.

    Biomedical engineering research

"The FDA regulates specific claims of medical efficacy, but in general static magnetic fields are viewed as safe," notes Thomas Skalak, professor and chairman of Biomedical engineering at University of Virginia. He, along with Cassandra Morris, a former Ph.D. student in Biomedical engineering, began investigative work on the effect of magnets on human blood flow. Basically, this research was aimed at testing a few companies' advertisement that magnetic therapy helped increase blood circulation.

    Research process

Their research was done on laboratory rats; they placed magnets of 70 Millitesla (mT) magnetic field strength close to the rats' blood vessels. The blood vessels were measured before and after their exposure to Static Magnetic Fields (SMF). Skalak and Morris found that the vessels that had been constricted became dilated and vice versa. This proved that magnets are capable of causing relaxation in blood vessels with reduced blood supply thereby increasing the blood flow. As dilated vessels are also likely to become constricted due to the SMF, inflammation that is generally caused by a dilatation of blood vessels is reduced considerably, thus proving the beneficial effects of magnetic therapy.

    Recent research

Their latest research involved anesthetized rats, the hind paws of which were injected with inflammatory agents that injured the tissues. Magnetic therapy was immediately applied to the injured part. The results showed that swelling due to tissue injury could be reduced by static magnets provided this was done immediately. This study was published in the November 2007 issue of the American Journal of Physiology.

    Source: http://www.virginia.edu/uvatoday/newsRelease.php?id=3573

The above study proves beyond doubt the efficacy of magnets in reducing tissue trauma. It also shows that if further advanced studies are conducted in the field of magnetic therapy, there is likely to be a more positive attitude among the masses towards this form of alternative medicine.

    Popular alternative cure

Alternative medicine enjoys a $5 billion world market today, thanks to the widespread acceptance by the masses due to its healing powers. A large number of people are using magnetic therapy as an alternative method of cure for their ailments ranging from joint pains to depression despite the fact that scientific evidence to this effect is lacking. People do not hesitate to use magnetic therapy products that are available in a wide range such as bracelets, magnetic insoles, magnetic belts, magnetic mattress toppers and many more.

Magnetic therapy for pets is a huge market in itself wherein your dogs and cats find relief from canine and feline arthritis respectively. Testimonials from the pet owners vouch for the efficient mechanism of this magic therapy.

Magnetic Therapy and Its Little-Known Benefits

Magnetic therapy is an alternative form of treatment that gives you relief from several painful conditions such as severe arthritis pain and inflammation in the joints and also helps you to sleep well.

    Medicine and science today

Although we see a lot of development in medical sciences and technology, we find that new and complicated medical conditions are simultaneously making their entry every day. Pollution, ecological imbalance and various other factors are responsible for the present day unhealthy status of people. As a result of more findings in medical sciences, you find more side effects caused by the new medicines.

    Safer alternative

Therefore the number of people looking for safer alternative therapies is increasing by the day.You cannot blame them. If their chronic health problems are solved by even an obscure or unapproved or unestablished but natural therapy without adverse effects, they are certainly going to recommend it to friends and family and spread the word.

    Side effects? None

For instance, water therapy is advised for people with hypertension and diabetes. The Japanese propagated this therapy on the precept that water is a natural element that cannot produce harmful side effects. And water therapy has proven its worth too. Likewise, any natural form of treatment that gives relief from pain and other discomfort is always favored by the masses, irrespective of approval from FDA or a similar health department agency.

    Magnetic therapy

Magnetic therapy is one such form of alternative medicine that is getting more and more popular today. It is believed to provide muscle and joint pain relief to the affected people. Several painful conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, sciatica and migraines have been found to be treated effectively by using magnetic therapy.

The advantages of using magnetic therapy are many:

    • Uses simple devices for treating the affected parts
    • Does not need much of an equipment, so can be done in the privacy and comfort of your home
    • Helps in post-surgery healing
    • Heals a sports person's injuries faster
    • Reduces stress levels
    • Refreshes you helping you to do more work actively
    • Improves blood circulation and metabolism thereby enhancing vital activity

    Different kinds of magnetic therapy

There are several magnetic therapy products that cater to the needs of the people suffering from pain. For instance, arthritis disability is one that gives you inexplicable pain and discomfort without warning or any symptoms. It starts with a slight pain and no matter what you do to mitigate it, it will keep aggravating and make you writhe in agony unless otherwise you take a painkiller for a temporary relief. Diagnosing mild arthritisis any time safer than ignoring the early signs of arthritis and making the condition worse. The effects of arthritis can be detrimental to your overall health if you neglect its early symptoms.

Trust magnetic therapy for good health

Magnetic therapy is based on the premise that all the cells and tissues in the human body emit electromagnetic impulses. According to practitioners of alternative medicine, if you are ill or injured, these electromagnetic fields are blocked. It is believed that by using external magnets, you'll be able to restore the balance and good health of the body. This is accomplished when the energy fields of varying strengths given out by magnets penetrate into the cells and tissues in the body.

Static or constant magnets, as the name suggests, are different from electromagnets in that the magnetic field in the former is constant and does not change. They are made of lodestone or magnetized metal. These magnets are used in the form of magnetic beds, magnetic mattress pads and toppers, magnetic therapy bracelets, magnetic insoles, magnetic belts and wraps such as knee and ankle wraps.

However, the medical uses of static magnets have not been proved scientifically, hence magnetic therapy has not been approved by the FDA so far. But let us keep our fingers crossed and hope that as more and more studies with magnetic therapy are conducted, the medical community will begin to feel the need to recognize this ancient form of alternative medicine in the interest of the society at large.

    Magnetic Therapy Bracelet

Magnetic Therapy Bracelet For Rheumatoid Arthritis

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS is an inflammatory arthritis in which joints, usually including those in the hands and feet, are inflamed, resulting in swelling, pain and often the destruction of the joints.

Interestingly enough worldwide Rheumatoid arthritis develops in about 1% of the population, regardless of race, country or origin, effecting woman two to three times more often than men. Usually Rheumatoid arthritis first appears between 25 to 50 years of age, but it may occur in any age. When Rheumatoid Arthritis appears in children, the disease is then called juvenile arthritis.

The exact cause of rheumatoid arthritis is now quite known as of yet. But generally is it considered an autoimmune disease. Components of the immune system attack the soft tissue that lines the joints and can also attack the connective tissue in many other parts of the body such as blood vessels and lungs. Eventually the cartilage, bone and ligaments of the joint erode, causing deformity, instability and scaring within the joint.

Affected joints enlarge because of swelling of the soft tissue and can quickly become deformed. Joints may freeze in one position so that they bend or open freely. The fingers may tend to dislocate slightly from their normal position toward the little finger on each hand, causing tendons in the fingers to slip out of place. Swollen wrist can pinch a nerve and result in numbness or tingling due to carpal tunnel syndrome.

Rarely, rheumatoid arthritis resolves spontaneously, treatment alleviates symptoms in 3 to 4 people. However at least 1 out of 10 people eventually become severely disabled.

The main categories used to treat rheumatoid arthritis are the non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (Naiads), Corticosteroids and immunosuppressive drugs. The short term relief must also be balanced with the long term consequences from side effects.

MAGNETIC THERAPY BRACELET - Lets go back to the concept of magnetic therapy as a drug free alternative to pain relief. It is well known that strong medicines of the modern age have their reactions and sometimes result in fatal consequences. Magnetic therapy is the only Natural system of treatment based on natural laws and principles which do not show harmful side effects.

The practitioners of every system of medicine plead and emphasis that while a patient is under their care and is taking their medicine, no other treatment should be given to him side by side, but using a magnetic therapy bracelet does not follow the above general convention. As this system of treatment is based on the natural laws, works in conformity with the nature and is an aid to natural processes of healing, it has therefore, no harmful side effects which could endanger the life of a patient. Magnetic therapy is not perhaps the panacea for all ills, but can be seen as a drug free alternative to pain relief

The treatment of using a magnetic therapy bracelet can be taken alone or along with any other treatment, as it does not interfere with any medical system but helps to accelerate the action of all medicines which have the effect of restoring the ailing body to its normal state in a natural way. I have discussed recommended treatments that your local Doctor may prescribe. Use a magnetic therapy bracelet in conjunction with this and see how you go. Many customers over the years have been able to reduce the level of drugs as the magnetic therapy bracelet is introduced.

All these conditions that I have discussed have the common denominator of muscular inflammation. Inflammation and pain go hand in hand. So how does a magnetic therapy bracelet assist? Scientific studies have revealed that the placing of a magnet on a certain area may lead to an increase in blood flow by about 300 %. This increase allows fresh oxygenated blood to flow to your problem area, flushing out the inflamed material. I like the analogy of the erosive effects of the waves at the beach as they hit the rocks. Slowly washing away the inflammation and pain, it is the same with your body.

Proper circulation is vital to this process and this is why most pain symptoms get worse of a night time or when we go to bed. When we lay still our circulation slows down, this in turn reduces you lymphatic systems ability to reduce the inflammation and pain. By using a magnetic therapy bracelet both day and night times you will help to reduce these problems just by simply increasing blood flow.

What product do you use for your finger and wrist problems? To be truthful with you all magnets do the same job. All we do is provide you with variety of different magnetic therapy products for your pain relief solutions. All our Australian made products will all give you the same result. It's just a case of what product is practical for you daily use.

The Magnetic Therapy Bracelet and Supports are area specific products designed to be worn on the hand. Remember they all do a similar job. Just choose the product that closest to meeting your needs at this time.

    • The magnetic therapy bracelet can provide the wearer with a stylish piece of jewellery as well as magnetic therapy at the same time. With many styles on the market it is only a question of what meets you particular taste. From cheap nickel based styles to the more durable stainless steel ranges that are often mistaken for an expensive piece of jewellery and not a therapeutic device. The bracelet can be worn 24 hours a day if required. Just wear it to bed to help curb the night time nasties.
    • A magnetic wrist guard made with surgical elastic will provide you with support as well as magnetic therapy. The guard also sits strategically over the wrist where suffers of carpel tunnel need it the most. But remember that wearing magnets on the wrist increase blood flow the extremities of the fingers at the same time.
    • In my earlier discussion, most hand and wrist problems begin with the thumb. Magnetic thumb supports have a combination of magnets that sit on both the thumb and acupuncture points that will assist with area specific inflammation and pain.
    • The magnetic mitt sits in the centre of your hand allowing magnetic therapy to the whole area. The fingerless tips allows you to wear it of a day time but generally speaking I this product as something to wear to bed for acute problems. A great product for stroke victims that loose control over their hand..
    • Let's not forget the magnetic body studs. Powerful little magnets that you place on the pain area utilizing plasters to hold them in place. With over 500 public speaking venues over the last ten years, I cannot speak long enough of their positive benefits. Thousands upon thousands of times I have seen pain relief in customer's hands and fingers in as little as 40 minutes.
I hopefully have given you some informative information on what problems you may have and then what natural pain relief solutions suit your current circumstances. The way I usually see it is that you choose what you believe to be the most appropriate choice at this point. I then guarantee you that after a period of time you will incorporate a combination to many magnetic products as part of your drug free alternative using a natural therapy.

Magnetic Therapy Jewelry Works Like Magic

In today's busy world, many people suffer from regular bouts of stress and body pain. It's understandable. After all, we do spend hours sitting in front of our computers. Some of us even spend the entire day standing or walking.

Magnetic therapy is a practice that is now gaining popularity. This therapy aims to use magnets for relief of muscle aches and pains. But before you dismiss magnetic therapy as just another fad, you should know that this practice has been around for centuries. Not only that, magnetic therapy has been studied a lot and the results are very positive.

    What is magnetic therapy, anyway?

Magnetic therapy obviously employs the use of magnetic force. This force is actually really present in our lives, as exemplified in the magnetic field of the Earth's North and South poles. When harnessed properly, this magnetic force can be used to improve the condition of injured areas in the body.

More specifically, when our cells receive some form of injury, a positive electrical charge is released. Consequently, this charge alters the body's existing chemical and electrical balance. This imbalance contributes to our feelings of pain. Of course, the body's natural reaction is to counteract the damage by sending negative electrical charges to the site of injury. The negative will counter the positive charge thus, helping the cells heal better.

A negative magnetic field can supply this electric charge that's needed to initiate healing. By using a magnet with negative polarity, the blood flow will improve and the oxygen supply will be efficiently delivered to the organs. Since the blood flow is improved, the injured tissue gets the materials it needs. This will make the pain and inflammation subside faster.

So, magnetic therapy is well and good. The problem now is how do you keep a magnet on that injured site? It won't be practical to just hold the magnet in place. Taping the magnet to your skin isn't the best idea, either. The key is magnetic therapy Jewelry.

Magnetic therapy Jewelry is a fashionable way of conducting magnetic therapy. You would be able to sport stylish pieces of Jewelry and at the same time, you can keep the magnet close to the area of injury. Don't think that this concept is new either. In fact, there are records that told of Queen Cleopatra of Egypt wearing a magnet on her forehead, both as an ornament and as a way of keeping herself youthful.

So, why don't you follow in the footsteps of the beautiful Queen Cleopatra and use magnets for your well-being? If your ankle feels sore, try wearing a magnetic Jewelry in the form of an anklet. The anklet will adorn your feet and enhance your footwear. Meanwhile, the magnet can keep working on healing your sore ankle.

Aside from simple muscle pains, magnetic therapy Jewelry is believed to be effective for people who are suffering from conditions related to their spine. This includes osteoporosis, ruptured disks, and other bone injuries. Also, magnetic therapy Jewelry is perfect for athletes who put a lot of strain on their muscles. Magnetic therapy Jewelry is also perfect for back pain, neck pain, knee pain, arthritis and other conditions.

Magnetic therapy Jewelry isn't just about calming your sore muscles. In fact, if you use magnets with positive polarity, they can help stimulate your body. So, if you're feeling a bit sluggish or tired, put on a magnetic therapy necklace and your body will be activated and ready for the day ahead.

Magnetic Therapy For Drug Free Pain Relief

From times of yore, magnetic therapy has been in vogue for treatment of body pains and aches. Though the medical community is divided over the effectiveness of magnetic therapy in providing beneficial health effects with associated pros and cons, actual users have declared immense health benefits in terms of getting drug free pain relief and a sound night's sleep.

    Origins Of Magnetic Therapy

The healing powers of magnets were recognized early on in the ancient Chinese and Indian cultures. The Greek and Egyptian cultures embraced it in a big way using magnetic therapy extensively in medical treatments. In fact, the word magnet is of Greek origin and is attributed to Magnes, a shepherd in ancient Greece who is said to have discovered this rock.

The post Renaissance period in Europe saw magnetic therapy gain popularity. Despite cases of quacks promising cures for all kinds of ailments, this alternative therapy gained ground steadily and was used to heal bones and alleviate pains from rheumatism and sciatica. The 20th century has seen it grow in leaps and bounds with development of powerful ferrite magnets at low costs that has brought magnetic therapy products within easy reach of the common person.

With the rapid strides made in clinical research and medical technology, the power of modern day treatment techniques are matched by equally powerful side effects, sometimes causing more damage than the actual procedure itself. Viewed in this light, it is therefore natural for people to expect solutions to their health problems that are devoid of harmful consequences. Magnetic therapy fits the bill admirably.

    Are Magnets Effective?

Magnetic therapy at the outset looks innocuous but it is a very effective alternative treatment. With advancements in production of powerful quality magnets, its power is today harnessed to alleviate various types of joint pains such as arthritic pain, sciatic pain, back pain and fibromyalgia.

An age old home remedy to reduce aches and pains is to apply heat to the body region or joint that is inflamed. Magnets are effective agents in focusing heat along with improved blood circulation to relieve the pain.

People using magnetic mattress pads and toppers attest to the fact that they have been able to get a good night's sleep with little restlessness to show. Magnets help in the production of melatonin, a hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain. This hormone plays a crucial part in the sleep-wake cycle and is actively associated with the onset of sleep. Sleeping on a magnetic mattress pad or topper is an effective way to counter sleep disorders.

    A Safe Alternative Treatment

This is a non-invasive procedure and its therapeutic qualities have been experienced first hand by numerous people all over the world. Although the medical fraternity is divided over its acceptance of magnetic therapy as an effective healing technique, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is on the verge of supporting this alternative healing method. As of date, the number of success stories coming from users bears testimony to its expanding sphere of influence as the alternative therapy of choice.

Magnetic Therapy As It Stands Today

The development of powerful magnets has also contributed to the success of this form of treatment in the modern age. Starting with the magnets of fused cobalt, nickel, aluminum and iron in the early thirties of the twentieth century, magnets evolved into ceramic and ferrite magnets in the fifties. Of late, the advent of rare earth magnets like neodymium have made magnetic therapy a force to reckon with in the alternative therapy sector.

With the power and compactness of the magnets today at hand, a slew of magnetic therapy products of all shapes and sizes created for treatment of various disorders is the order of the day. Magnetic jewelry combines charming looks with therapeutic benefits in the form of bracelets, necklaces and rings. Other kinds of wraps, supports and belts are in demand for knees, ankles, shoulders and elbows.

For increased healing effect on the human body, the scientifically engineered arrangement of powerful healing magnets embedded in magnetic mattress pads and magnetic mattress toppers goes a long way in providing drug free pain relief and a great night's sleep as the human body in reclined position is the best form of close contact with the healing magnets. The strength of the magnets plays a crucial part in the success of the product.

    CONCLUSION:

How Magnetic Therapy can help break the Poor Sleep Cycle

    Dear Back Pain Sufferer,

Can you remember a time, when you actually had a good nights sleep and woke up feeling refreshed? If you’re struggling to remember, then chances are, you can probably relate to Katie’s story. Read on..

Katie Blake, age 39, a married mother of two from Somerset, UK, began suffering from chronic back pain after a near fatal car accident which occurred in January 2006. She has recently been feeling very low, due to lack of sleep caused by her back condition. When asked how her back pain had been affecting her sleep, here’s what she had to say,

“Since suffering with chronic back pain after the accident, I’ve found that I constantly toss and turn from one side to another just to try and get some relief.

There are nights when the pain seems so unbearable, almost as though my lower back is splitting in two; that trying to change sides literally leaves me in tears. So, I prop myself up with cushions and try to force myself to lie still on my back, only to wake up as stiff as a board the next morning.

When you’ve got to get up early, to sort out two young kids on after virtually no sleep at all, well, what can I say, it’s no laughing matter is it!”

Unfortunately, Katie’s story is not an isolated one. In fact, just like you, she is among one of the thousands of chronic back pain sufferers, whose quality of sleep is affected in a negative way, by their pain.

Two Thirds Of Back Pain Sufferers Have Sleep Trouble

A recent study conducted by the National Sleep Federation revealed that:

? As many as two thirds of chronic back pain sufferers have sleep trouble.

? The more severe the pain, the more likely it is to affect sleep

? Disrupted sleep can make the pain feel worse

? Traditional pain relief medication, such as analgesics can disrupt the sleep patterns and make getting to sleep more difficult.

    Vicious Cycle

So as you can see, it’s pretty much a vicious cycle where you find it difficult to get to sleep because of the pain and the less sleep you get, the worse the pain feels.

Assuming you’ve been in the position, where you’ve experienced insomnia; you’re probably familiar with the effects it can have on your body, such as:

    * Feeling un-refreshed and lacking in energy the next morning

    * Poor concentration levels

    * Feeling irritable

    * Impaired ability to think and speak

In a moment, I would like to offer you a glimmer of hope in the form of a natural therapy that might just help you break ‘the more pain equals less sleep cycle’, that you’ve probably become accustomed to.

    Therapeutic Powers

Today, I’d like to share information with you, about a therapy that promotes the deep and restorative sleep that has been eluding you all this time. I’m talking about the natural therapeutic powers of Magnetic Therapy.

You’re probably wandering what Magnetic Therapy can do for you; well, let me begin by telling you what it is.

Magnetic therapy can be defined as a safe, natural and non-invasive method of applying high strength magnetic fields to the body for therapeutic purposes. It is a form of complementary therapy based medicine used to treat certain medical conditions by exposure to permanent or pulsed magnetic fields.

It is truly a time-tested therapy, which has been around since 2000 BC. The Ancient Chinese, Egyptians, Indians and Greeks were among the first to use it and give recognition to its’ therapeutic benefits.

I feel it’s important to say that Magnetic Therapy isn’t used as some sort of mystical cure for ailments or diseases. Instead, it’s natural forces are used to kick-start your bodies own systems in to action. Next, we look at how it does this.

When high strength magnets are placed directly above the site of injury or near a major artery, they generate a localised Magnetic Field that is powerful enough to penetrate right through the skin and bones, down to the cells.

This magnetic field also triggers a chemical response, which causes the iron content in your blood to become responsive to it. This reaction results in improved blood circulation. One of the functions of blood, is to transport oxygen and nutrients from the heart to the cells, tissues and vital organs in the body.

Consequently, as the blood circulation system begins to improve, the knock on effect is that more oxygen and nutrients are transported directly to where it’s needed, i.e., to the damaged cells and soft tissues at the site of pain or injury.

On receiving the required fresh supply of blood, oxygen and nutrients, the bodies own healing processes can begin to work on repairing the damage to the cells and soft tissues at an accelerated rate. Whilst the bodies essential repair works get under way, the brain sends out signals to release the internal painkillers i.e. the Endorphins that get on with the job of relieving the pain.

As well as stimulating the bodies healing processes, the Magnetic Field also relieves pain, by tackling any inflammation present. It does this by drawing out excess fluid and toxins from the surrounding tissues and then expelling them on route via the Liver and Kidneys. Once the excess fluid and toxins are removed, the swelling will begin to reduce.

Now, you recall that earlier, I mentioned about Magnetic Therapy ‘promoting deep restorative sleep’, well stay tuned, because we’re going to get into that next.

    Magnetic Therapy In Your Sleep

    Here’s a fact for you,

Scientific research conducted by a key specialist in the area of Magnetic Therapy, namely, Dr. W.H. Philpott MD of Oklahoma has shown that effects of magnets are at their most powerful at night, and here’s why. Every living thing on this Earth is dependent on Magnetic Energy. In fact, the earth itself is a huge magnet, and as such produces natural Negative Magnetic Energy force.

During the day, we are exposed to the Positive Magnetic Force from the Sun and Negative Magnetic Force at night from the Earth.

The following explains the effects that each type of energy has on the human body.

    Effects of Magnetic Energy

Positive Magnetic Energy from the Sun

    * Promotes deep and restorative sleep

    * Supports the healing process

    * Decreases inflammation and relieves pain

    * Increases cellular oxygen

Negative Magnetic Energy from the Earth

    * Stimulates wakefulness

    * Inhibits the healing process

    * Can increase inflammation and aggravate pain

    * Decreases cellular oxygen

According to Dr. W.H. Philpott’s theory on the effects of Magnetic Energy, the Pineal gland, located in the centre of the head, acts as a sort of control centre for the immune system, hormones, and enzymes in our bodies.” This gland actually contains Magnetic crystals, and is acutely sensitive to the effects of Magnetic Energy.

The Pineal gland secretes the sleep hormone Melatonin throughout the night, when the Earth’s Negative Magnetic force is dominant.

The body requires high levels of Melatonin to enable a good night’s sleep.

Significant advances in magnet technology have enabled scientists to duplicate the Earths negative energy and harness it in form of high strength magnets.

Therefore, when you use magnets to surround yourself in a Magnetic Field at night, the effects are intensified for two reasons, 1) The Earth’s Negative Magnetic Energy is at it’s most powerful and 2) The body is in its’ resting and healing phase. As such, you are able to benefit from:

    * A deep restorative sleep that will leave you feeling energised and refreshed when you awake

    * Improved circulation that will feed your cells with those vital nutrients and oxygen to enable faster healing

    * Reduced if not eradicated aches, pains and inflammation

    * The effects of the bodies resting stage, which allows the body to heal itself more efficiently at night.

Hopefully by now, you can begin to see how using Magnetic Therapy can help you break, the vicious more pain less sleep cycle.

In addition, it may interest you to know that there are self-help Magnetic Products readily available that are specifically designed, to provide this nighttime therapy. They are Magnetic Bed Pads or Magnetic Mattress Covers. These products have a series of high strength magnets sewn inside them. In addition, they have been clinically proven to be a safe and effective form of natural pain relief.

So, as I bring this article to an end I just want to say, don’t let back pain continue rob you of the deep restorative sleep that your body so desperately needs. Give Magnetic Therapy a try, who knows, it could work for you.

    Magnetic Therapy Gives Pain Relief

The idea of using magnetic therapy for therapeutic purposes started thousands of years ago in Greece. It can increase blood flow and increase the oxygen level in the body, which will alleviate the pain in the treated area. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that athletes such as Bill Romanowski and Steve Atwater have resorted to magnetic therapy to get some ,. The American public has also decided to use this alternative, non-invasive healing technique. One out of 1,000 American homes use magnetic therapeutic products. Companies that sell magnetic therapeutic products say that American consumers will spend more than $500 million on these items this year. Some athletes are even endorsing brand-name magnetic therapeutic products. The use of these products is even more popular in other parts of the world. One out of 7 Japanese homes and 1 out of 10 German homes use these products. There are many magnetic products available that can treat many conditions. A magnetic mattress pad can provide relief from insomnia, joint pain, muscle spasm and fibromyalgia. Magnetic insoles can alleviate painful inflammation resulting from bone spurs. Magnetic wraps can be used to relieve lower back pain, arthritic joints and inflamed tendons. Magnetic bracelets can be used to help with carpal tunnel syndrome. There have been studies that indicate that there are positive benefits to using magnetic therapy.

At the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, a double blind study was conducted to determine the effects of authentic magnetic devices and placebo devices on the knee pain of 50 adult patients. The knee pain was attributed to the poliovirus they contracted when they were kids. This study concluded that the 29 patients who used the authentic magnetic devices had a greater reduction in pain than the 21 patients who used the placebo devices.

In the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine there was a study conducted by researchers at the University of Virginia that looked into the effectiveness of magnetic therapy on patients suffering from fibromyalgia pain. People with fibromyalgia suffer from musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and multiple tender points. Two percent of the population suffers from fibromyalgia. The 6-month study was conducted on 94 patients suffering from fibromyalgia to test the effectiveness of magnetic sleep pads. They were randomly placed into 4 groups. The first group used sleep pads with fake magnets. Another group was asked to stick to their normal treatment routine that didn't involve magnetic therapy. A third group used magnetic sleep pads that exposed their entire body to a low, uniform magnetic field. The last group used magnetic sleep pads that used magnets that varied in intensity. At the end of the 6 month study, it was determined that the two groups that used magnetic therapy did show improvement in outcome scores of pain intensity level, number of tender points on the body and functional status. The other two groups did not show the same type of improvement.

Researchers from the Peninsula Medical School conducted a magnetic therapy study on 194 patients with osteoarthritis of the hip or knee. For 12 weeks, these test subjects were required to wear either a standard magnetic bracelet, a weak magnetic bracelet, or a non-magnetic bracelet. The standard magnetic group had a reduction in pain that was not matched by the other two groups. The results for the non-magnetic and weak magnet groups were similar. These results indicate that the magnetic strength of the bracelet is also important.

But as of today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not yet approved of magnetic therapy.

Magnetic Bracelets - an alternative therapy

For many thousands of years Lodestone, a naturally occuring magnet, was used in healing the body. Early writings in many different countries mentioned it and its healing properties. It was also mentioned that Cleopatra used a magnetic substance to help keep her youthful.

The oldest known use of magnets to promote health was used in potions, foods and topical applications. This can be traced as far back as 100,000 years. The magnetite used then was thought to be used in potions, foods and topical applications.

Other nations like Ancient Greeks, Hebrews, Arabs, Indians, Egyptians and Chinese races have used magnets for a therapy now called magnetic therapy or magnotherapy.

A very traditional theory has been combined with independent research and newer technology to provide magnets these days of high strength which can be used by people and animals effectively for many conditions.

Magnets are used these days in hospital& clinics worldwide and many tests and trials have been conducted on magnets and the human body with favorable results.

It is not fully known as how they actually work on the body but there are many theories, one of which is that they oxygenate the cells of the body, as the magnetic field passes through the blood.

This helps to promote healing of wounds and disease and speeds up recovery time. Magnetic bracelets are by far the most popular forms of magnetic therapy and are being sold all over the world in different shapes and sizes. They all promise the same effect but in different strengths. It is therfore important to choose magnetic bracelts which are not sold as cheap as their effectiveness is much lower than the more expensive ones.

Magnetic bracelets have proven through numerous independent trials that they help with osteoarthritis-researchers said that magnetic bracelets, worn by many for their supposed health benefits, do reduce the pain of osteoarthritis. This has been published in the British Medical Journal in Dec 04.

The researchers, from the Peninsula Medical School in Plymouth, found pain was significantly reduced in the patients wearing the standard magnetic bracelet compared to the dummy one.

There was little difference between the weak magnet group and those wearing the dummy magnets after 12 weeks of the study.

The researchers said: "Pain from osteoarthritis of the hip and knee decreases when wearing magnetic bracelets."

Some practitioners are even claiming magnetic therapy bracelets can promote anti-ageing. Just like Cleopatra kept a very youthful appearance we can do by wearing a magnetic bracelet. It is thought magnets encourage blood - containing iron - to the skin which stimulates collagen - a structural protein present in the skin which is essential for skin elasticity.

    Magnetic Therapy

Magnetic Therapy is currently considered to be an alternative medicine. Those who practice it believe that certain ailments can be treated if the patient is exposed to magnetic fields. Permanent magnets will generally be placed near the body, and it is believed that this procedure can reduce pain, allow the body to heal faster, and treat a number of other medical problems. Magnetic Therapy will typically be used for people who have problems with their backs or joints. The effectiveness of this therapy is currently not known, and most in the medical establishment currently view it as being a form of pseudoscience.

The practice of magnetic therapy has led to the growth of an entire industry. A number of products are sold for the purpose of healing those who use them. These products could range from bracelets to mattresses or blankets. While there is no concrete evidence that magnetic therapy has been used to effectively treat people, some in the medical establishment believe that it may work as a placebo in some who use it. Critics of magnetic therapy claim that most magnets don't have the strength to effect the various organs and tissues within the body.

In addition to this, few manufacturers have been able to effectively demonstrate the usefulness of their products. However, it should be noted that the field of magnetism is not well understood, and discoveries are constantly being made on a regular basis. Scientific studies have showed that magnetic fields do play a role in the migratory patterns of some birds, and being exposed to a magnetic field which is too strong can even be toxic. Given this research, there is a possibility that strong magnetic fields may play a role in the health of those who are exposed to them, but this remains to be seen.

Proponents of Magnetic Therapy often point out that magnetic fields which are exposed to the body can increase the circulation of blood due to the presence of iron within the hemoglobin. However, iron will lose its ferromagnetic properties once it becomes ionised. There are a number of websites online which sale magnetic health products, and it has grown into a large industry. Whether or not the use of magnets for healing is caused by the placebo effect, it has become an alternative medicine that many people use for healing purposes.

The use of Magnetic Therapy is not new. Paracelsus was a doctor and alchemist who lived during the 15th century, and he reasoned that if magnets could attract iron, they may also be able to have an effect on the various diseases that were present in the body. The current debate about Magnetic Therapy will continue until concrete evidence has been found to support it. With all the achievements that have been made by the medical community, they are limited in their knowledge and understanding. Magnetism is a subject that is not well understood, and the function of the human body and mind is extremely complex as well. It is possible that some link between magnetic fields and diseases may found in the future if sophisticated tools are developed.

How Magnetic Therapy Can Help You (magnetic therapy bracelet)

Magnetic therapy has been in use for many thousands of years and it is still just as effective as it was when it was in use by ancient civilizations, such as the Ancient Greeks and Romans. This form of therapy has become more popular in recent years due to people's movement towards alternative medicine. This type of therapy is possibly more effective than it was previously since there have been many developments in the field since it was originally discovered.

One of the premium applications of magnetic therapy is magnetic jewelry that performs magnetic therapy while you are wearing it. This form of magnetic therapy can help you in various ways. Each different type of magnetic jewelry will provide you with different benefits, but certain beneficial attributes are common to them all. The potency of the beneficial effects corresponds to the length of time that the magnetic jewelry is worn. Therefore the longer you wear the jewelry, the more beneficial effects you will receive.

The magnetic therapy as provided by the magnetic jewelry will act as a pain relief for two reasons. Firstly, the magnets can help to stimulate the release of endorphins which are the natural pain killers of the body, which also help to stimulate the bodies healing process. The other means by which magnetic therapy can help with pain relief is that it can help to increase the rate of circulation, which can in turn help to flush away the toxins that may be a major cause of pain.

The magnetic therapy can also increase the level of oxygen in the blood stream that gets distributed within the body. This can help to increase your energy levels since the oxygen will be distributed to muscles and tissues. The increased level of oxygen can also help to increase your mental clarity and awareness. You are encouraged to wear your magnetic jewelry while you are sleeping so that you can increase the likelihood of having a long, deep sleep and waking up refreshed in the morning.

Magnetic necklaces can help to relieve pain caused by migraines and headaches, neck, back and shoulder pain as well as potentially relieving the pain caused by muscle spasms and lock jaw. Magnetic bracelets can help to relieve pain associated with, tennis elbow and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, tendonitis and bursitis, as well as helping to relieve the pains caused by arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Magnetic anklets can be of help when it comes to lowering the levels of pain associated with lower back and knee pain, spurs and inflammation in the legs and feet as well as helping to alleviate numbness of the legs. This is addition to the increase of mobility that the areas around the pieces of jewelry will experience. Not only do these pieces of magnetic jewelry give you amazing health benefits, they also look stylishly elegant and the ranges of styles that are available are sufficient to cater for anyone's requirements.
